Citation check · BetaCheck the cases in your footnotes.
Paste up to 10 footnotes. We compare each case citation with the court records we hold, then link you to the judgment so you can read it yourself.
Where your footnotes go
- Read on our servers in Sydney to find the case citations.
- Each citation is looked up in our case records. Case names can go to a search-ranking service in the United States to find the closest record.
- Nothing is stored or linked to an account. We may count guest checks for a short time to stop abuse.
- No generative AI is used.
What the check does, and doesn’t
It checks your citations against our records. Reading the cases is still yours.
It does
- Finds the case citations in each footnote, and follows Ibid and (n 1) back to the case they mean
- Compares the case name, year, report or court number with our record of the case
- Links you to read each judgment on the court's site, AustLII or JADE
It doesn’t
- Use generative AI, or write or change your work
- Decide whether a case supports your point
- Check legislation, articles or the words you quote
- Tell you a real case is wrong
Checking a whole draft?
With a free account you can check 3 drafts a month, and rechecks of the same draft are free. Save a check to come back to it, and tick off each case as you read it.
